Though an architect by profession, I have always had a profound interest in the principles of aesthetics. From the beginning, my art work has been rooted in my passion for geometry. It is conceived by combining simple and basic shapes with curvilinear elements that playfully frame the composition – a mixture of patterned textures and vivid colors. The work is appealing to the eye because it has a Baroque intensity about it that is the result of the mixture of high gloss, bold patterns and vivid colored textures.

Most of my work begins with a shaped wood frame. Once the complex frame structure is completed, the stretching of the canvas follows. After a close study of the framed canvas, I begin the process of dressing it through the use of disposable or recyclable resources like plastics, paper and fiber materials. These are deconstructed and reconfigured into palatable textures, a central theme of my work. Later, color becomes the unifying factor in the composition.

I would like to think that people react to my work as they do to pleasurable life experiences like one might find in foods, love and self-expression. I try to provoke a visual appetite by flirting with the human eye. There is an underlying sense of eroticism in the work that is rooted in the interaction between the sensual curvatures and lushness of the textures and colors used.
